Beyond the Game
Beyond the competition, there is the human story. This collection brings together decades of photographing athletes and the culture surrounding sports—from the locker room to the sidelines, from quiet moments to the unguarded moments. Photographed for Sports Illustrated, ESPN, The Players’ Tribune and others, the work spans MLB, NBA, NFL and Olympic sports, as well as Super Bowls and World Series.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of photographing athletes including Steph Curry, LeBron James and Barry Bonds, but what interests me most is what happens beyond the headlines: the pressure, personality, vulnerability, ritual and joy that make sports—and the people who play them—so compelling.
